Basic Directions for Perinatal Loss Projects

Use washable yarn (not wool).

Hat sizes are approximate.  Your gauge does not have to be perfect.

When knitting or crocheting, please keep in mind the approximate sizes for these infants.  Head sizes of the infants vary from the size of a large walnut or small lime to larger than the normal size of a full-term baby.  Extra-small and small preemie are the most-needed sizes.

For every 10 hats and gowns we provide to the hospitals, the size distribution the nursing staff would like is:

    Extra small : 3

    Small :         3

    Medium :      1

    Large :         1
